Book Review: Chasing Rabbits

31126770Alice was wrong – Wonderland wasn’t so wonderful after all.

Kat never expected to be back in her hometown, but when house sitting turns into a mad rabbit chase, Kat finds herself with a whole new set of problems.

A two-headed bird with a Game of Thrones obsession, a party full of tea addicts, and a Cheshire Cat who could seduce the pants off her grandma? And if the citizens weren’t bad enough their prince was off his rocker.

This wasn’t your run of the mill Wonderland. This was the Fae world, where rules are rules, and some things are exactly as they seem.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect going into this book but it was Alice in Wonderland themed and also free on amazon for the kindle app. If I’m being honest, most of the books I get on there have gone unread so far just because I’m not a big fan of reading e-books – I’d rather have the touch and smell of a real book – but I ended up picking this up on a whim shortly after finishing another book that was set in Wonderland.

I actually really enjoyed the character that Kat was but I did predict the ending around the time that we figured out what had happened to the Prince’s ex-fiancee. It was rather predictable for me but I would have been pissed had my guess been wrong because then nothing would have added up.

I loved the fact that Erin added in the Cheshire Cat humanized, it was quite entertaining to read about Kat’s reaction and even I probably would have swooned over him had I been a character in the book, granted so would everyone else.

There is a few problematic scenes in the book, so I’m going to state that if near-rape triggers you, skip past the chapter where she falls asleep after entering the maze. The way she handles it afterward is rather odd to me, but she probably just didn’t want to have a meltdown right there in the Underground.

Overall, it was a really good book and Erin is a fantastic writer.
